Yes—provided the bank lets you lower and recover the light under control, keep the power source and every non-submersible connection dry, and keep the cable outside your casting lane. A defined drop-off can work well. A long, shallow, weedy margin often cannot, because the lamp may never reach open water even when the cable looks long enough. If you must throw the lamp, drag it over rocks, leave a battery near rising water or cast across its cable, choose another position.

Fish beside or beyond the illuminated area without crossing the cable. On a straight bank, deploy the light on one side and reserve the other as the casting and landing lane. Mark the shore end so nobody steps over or casts through it.
